A new design for macmegasite.com. It's probably final, or at least very close.

The major problem with the site was all the content, sooo much to squeeze in there. I decided to keep it clean, pretty mainstream, and mainly focus on the usability. Yeah... that's about it.

Edit: Made some changes here and there

woho, thanks :)

Ah, age, age... I'm born in late december, so I'm more 17 than 16, but I think the quote "Don't judge me by age, judge age by me" would fit great here. I don't know why, but people usually mistake themselves about my age.
Really great design, it really is. I like it. Just one problem with it...Because of all the content the site looks choked and even u suggested that. My suggestion for content driven site like these is to make the design fluid. Make it fit the entire screen. If you notice, content driven sites are mostly fluid designs and works well because it doesn't looked choked because there's enough space to hold the content and to also have a bit of whitespace.

Of course you might be faced with some other issues like what would you cater for when designing fluid? It's better to go for 800x600 users. I just think fluid design would suit this content driven site.

A good example of a content driven site with fluid design would be [link] .
The problem with that site is that they cater for 1024x768 resolution users but hey, it's a graphic community sort of site so 90% of it's visitors use that res. It all depends on your audience. At lower res you get horizontal bar...don't know if you can live with that.
I'm just pointing out the use of fluid for content driven site so maybe consider it.

Otherwise your design is great. I'll tell u what, later on I'll upload a design of a similar design I did for a site that had much content (depthvision) and the comments on it was terrible so I had to change it to current design. Just my take. Great work as usual.

Oh, I'd like to invite you to join [link]

Thanks ^^

I agree, a fluid design would make it look much better, and it has its advantages, but also its disadvantages. In this particular case, I think the best would be to convince the admin that that much content isn't necesarry. Listing so much news, several days old, will not make anyone happy, and the same goes to most of the information on the left side. The news aren't really hot news anymore, so a simple listing with "latest news" (only the headlines) would be better. It feels like the site's trying to look more active than it is, and so the user just becomes confused because of all the text and ends up proceeding to another site. Thus, I think the real problem is the content, not the design, because even if the design problem could be solved fairly easy, the content problem would still remain intact.

Woho, seems like a nice club ^^ I just sent my Join note - thanks for the tip!
fair enough. you have a valid point about the content so do that because i love fixed designs :)

Yes, welcome to the club.

*Updated*

Made a few changes here and there - think it should work better now. More than 400 pixels shorter than before.

You really did an exellent job on this one! only point of critique is the amount of 'design' is lost at the bottom... :)
